MANIHI

Above: The Passe Tairapu is the only entrance to Manihi. The town dock of Village Paeua fronts the pass.

Below: Village Paeua from the top of Beatrix's mast. The pass is visible in the middle ground. Note the long coral flats beyond the cardinal marker.

RANGIROA

Above: Motu Pomariorio on Rangiroa is identified in the guides as a good West side anchorage, but we discovered it is a wonderfully peaceful and secluded place to visit.

We "discovered" a dinghy pass through the coral to this quiet, sandy cove. Nobody lives here, although there is a simple shelter here.

Below: Beatrix anchored in the distance in 8 meters, off the Motu. . We spent three nights here all by ourselves, snorkeling and enjoying the serenity and beauty of the spot.

As this was a quieter and more secluded anchorage we motored the 6 miles to the Blue Lagoon on two of the days, then returned to this spot.
